
Jeff Papows, PhD

As CEO of Lotus Corporation Jeff was widely credited for growing the industry dominant standard in web-based messaging, despite Microsoft's concurrent desire to do the same. Jeff led Lotus from the inception of Lotus Notes to more than eighty million copies and market leadership in a multi-billion dollar enterprise, while also leading the merger of two disparate cultures, IBM and Lotus, through one of the industry’s largest and most successful corporate evolutions.
Prior to Lotus Jeff was President of Cognos, which he grew tremendously leading to a successful public offering and years of Wall Street success, followed again by a merger with IBM.
Following Lotus Jeff was a founding member of the management team at Maptuit. Jeff led that firm for nearly a decade, as they became the market leader in commercial Navigation. Think of it like GPS for trucks. Ultimately Jeff engineered a very successful exit though an acquisition by Telelogis.
Jeff is presently President and CEO of WebLayers, Inc. WebLayers is the industry leader for automated governance, offering automated policy management avoiding a manual, labor-intensive process of defining and enforcing governance policies. It was there in this market context that Jeff authored Glitch the hidden cost of faulty software published by Prentice Hall. WebLayers Center is deployed in many of the largest enterprises and government agencies that use it to define their enterprise policies, detect, analyze, and ensure conformance and to govern their infrastructure.
Jeff is also on the board of Agero, a large company who dominates the telematics space and enjoys continued growth, profitability and employs thousands of associates. Jeff has played a critical role in that advisory capacity and their information services leadership.
Jeff also serves as Chairman of the Board of Sigma Estimates and leader in cost estimating software for the engineering and construction industry. Sigma has one of the most powerful parabolic modeling platforms in commercial use. Jeff helped this European based company reorganize and launch their North American efforts.
Jeff has lead public offerings, four mergers, and consistently contributed to a high return on invested capital or market capitalization in numerous enterprises in his thirty year technology career.
Jeff has authored three books, made numerous appearances on national and cable based news programs, testified in the U.S. senate multiple times on technology matters of National importance. He has been named one of the 100 most important influencers on the digital age by Upside Magazine.
